ITS & ETC
Intelligent transport systems vary in technologies applied, from basic management systems such as car navigation; traffic signal control systems; container management systems; variable message signs; automatic number plate recognition or speed cameras to monitor applications, such as security CCTV systems; and to more advanced applications that integrate live data and feedback from a number of other sources, such as parking Guidance and information systems; weather information; bridge de-icing systems; and the like. Additionally, predictive techniques are being developed to allow advanced modelling and comparison with historical baseline data. Some of these technologies are described in the following sections.
RAILS
Rolling stock in railway transport systems generally has lower frictional resistance when compared with highway vehicles and the passenger and freight cars (carriages and wagons) can be coupled into longer trains. The operation is carried out by a railway company, providing transport between train stations or freight customer facilities
ROADS
Electronic toll collection (ETC) aims to eliminate the delay on toll roads by collecting tolls electronically. ETC determines whether the cars passing are enrolled in the program, alerts enforcers for those that are not, and electronically debits the accounts of registered car owners without requiring them to stop.
AIRPORTS
Radar is an object-detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of objects. It can be used to detect aircraft, ships, spacecraft, guided missiles, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain. The radar dish (or antenna) transmits pulses of radio waves or microwaves that bounce off any object in their path. The object returns a tiny part of the wave’s energy to a dish or antenna that is usually located at the same site as the transmitter.
Close Loop Smart Credit Card
(Blue, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond)
Closed loop smart credit cards usually have perks to entice consumers to apply. In addition to giving the cardholder the option of paying off purchases over time, they might offer a percentage discount on all purchases, as is the case with GSS Blue 5% discount at the register. Closed loop cards might also offer points based on amounts charged to the card, as the GSS Silver card does. These points can later be redeemed for dollar-amount discounts on future purchases.
WAREHOUSE
A warehouse control system (WCS) is a software application that directs the real-time activities within warehouses and distribution centers (DC).
As the “traffic cop” for the warehouse/distribution center, the WCS is responsible for keeping everything running smoothly, maximizing the efficiency of the material handling subsystems and often, the activities of the warehouse associates themselves.
